About the Duke City Hamfest

The Albuquerque Duke City Hamfest (DCHF) is an annual event, held every year over the 2nd weekend of August.  The DCHF is the perfect combination of a traditional tailgate / indoor flea market, ARRL convention, ham radio conference covering a wide array of topics for the new or seasoned radio amateur, and an exhibition of the hottest radios, equipment and accessories from a variety of equipment manufacturers, dealers and merchants.  The DCHF not only attracts hams from New Mexico, but also the Southwestern USA including Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming and Mexico.  The DCHF has been growing every year since pivoting from a 1-day enhanced tailgate to a “full-service” 3-day regional ham radio convention.

The DCHF has a solid reputation for bringing in the best speakers from around our great nation to host its banquets and speak to the assembled hams about the latest hot topics. From Friday morning to Sunday afternoon, the DCHF runs 3 to 5 parallel tracks of programs, forums and demonstrations, each relating to the themes carefully chosen annually for the Hamfest.

Come to Albuquerque and beat the summer heat.  You have always wanted to enjoy the famous green chili and NM hospitality, so this is your chance.  See you in August.

The Duke City Hamfest Vision

The DCHF Board of Directors has a vision to focus on revitalizing the Ham Radio hobby by presenting the most interesting facets of Amateur Radio to both the active and inactive ham radio community, as well s to people that we know can benefit from all that ham radio has to offer, including youth, educators, citizen volunteers, and retirees. For several years, the DCHF has supported the efforts of local schools to bring Science, Technology, Education, and Math (STEM) into the curriculum, by providing support to local educators on matters relating to High Altitude Ballooning, Robotics, Electronics, Ham Radio Training Classes, setting up a radio club and station, Search and Rescue, etc.

We believe that the future of Ham Radio lies with our kids, and we are doing all we can to support bringing new blood into the hobby, reinvigorating the existing ham population, and transfusing life back into those that drifted away in the past.  Let’s get active together.
