Subject: RV overnight parking and Dispersed Camping availability during the Duke City Hamfest

Hello DCHF Registrants,

Since opening our 2024 website for pre-registration, we have received several inquiries about the availability of overnight RV parking and “Dispersed Camping” facilities in the immediate area. Here is what we have learned.

The Hamfest event will be held at two facilities here in Albuquerque, the UNM Continuing Education Center (CEC) and the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Both locations are on University Blvd. and they are located less than one mile from each other. Unfortunately, neither of these locations offers overnight parking or camping in any form.

A quick search of the Internet shows that some of the local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores still allow overnight parking. But this is at the discretion of the local manager and can change quickly. The DCHF assumes no responsibility for this availability.

There is an Albuquerque KOA Journey campground located less than 8 miles (11 minutes) from the CEC, near Central Ave. and Tramway Blvd. The RV Parky website shows a variety of locations in and around Albuquerque, New Mexico for overnight RV parking while the following website lists Dispersed Camping sites around the city.

We would also like to point out that the Duke City Hamfest Planning Committee has arranged for a block of rooms to be reserved for Hamfest attendees at the Crown Plaza Hotel at the reduced rate of $125 per night. We highly recommend that you investigate what they have to offer at the Crowne Plaza. To receive the preferred rate you must mention the “Duke City Hamfest” or, if making your reservation on-line, use the code “DCH”.
